Default Need help on LS/VTEC build...

What i was going to do is through a b16 head on my B18B block i was going to get type r pistons... cuz they are so cheap from the dealer. i was wondering what else is a good idea as far as building this car.. i want to be able to run 13's and have it as a daily driver as well. what would be some imparitive steps in making this car run well and last....

1. type r pistons.
2. b16 head
3. ls tranny i have now. thinking of going b16 or type r.. if its worth it.
4. I heard it was a bad idea to put the high compression pistons becuz of something about clearance? this will be my first real build i dont wana go out there and destroy my car.
5. please help me. any info is welcomed even flames if u wish..

im runnng a daily driver lsvtec, i recommend p30 pistons or itr pistons. arp rod bolts, arp head bolts. shotpened ls rods. ge block guard, ge girdle, ge lsvtec conversion kit. thats what im running now and its running strong. dont forget to balance the crank w/ flywheel and put some new main/rod bearings in.

runing that setup with a stock 99 si head. and gsr tranny.

you can actually run 13's with slicks or drag radials and good driving on a stock bottomed stock head setup. if you do go itr pistons fine and you can use cams of ITR or better. just make sure you have valvetrain to match. get at least gsr headbolts or arp studs for a gsr. use a good oil feed line. I like -6 line. if you plan of revving to 8-8500 you don't need rod bolts but would not hurt to have. concentrate on a good ecu program or tuning

u guys are great im loving the information. i dont have a gsr tranny as of yet and im at a high altitude about 1 mile above sea level ..here in albuquerque new mexico. slicks was something i was highly thinking of. i didnt plan on reving all the way up there i was going to think of sticking around 7200 to close to 8 g's at the most just to be safe i shouldnt have to rev that high just to produce power. the type r pistons cost next to nothing maybe some type r cam gears and what about the rods will those desperately need to be changed out or need to be upgraded or just the bolts and bearings.. and what were u stating about the balancing of the flywheel.

its not in the car as of yet. i just had the ls in there before i blew it i got a new enigne and everything. including a cable tranny that i cant use for 200 bucks. im going to buy the type r pistons and a b16 head and a oil line kit as well. as the p75 i think it is ecu.... so i dont no where i would rev it do safely i beat the **** out of cars though keep that in mind. i just about redline every gear in my normal setups.

That makes perfect sense. I was thinking I would really ever hit 8-8.5k. Thanks for the response.

but that wouldnt be the best thing to do for an ls/vtec why rev high isnt it dangerous and it wont create more power there will it.
