Default 15" subs in the back seat?

hi! im planning to build 2 15" subwoofers into the middle of the backseat of my future 1998-2000 civic. would this be possible? or should i shrink down to 12"?
plus: would i be able to use the trunk as a woofer box? or would i have to build in an extra one?

are you referring to the so-called "free air" setup? This makes any significant amount of sound pressure very difficult to acheive and with those Sony subs, I doubt you will be at all satisfied with that setup.

umm, sony blows for car audio.....IMHO - generally, going with just one mfg for all of your stuff is not recommended.

Another vote AGAINST Sony here. They may make nice TVs and console gaming systems, and my uncle may work for Sony Pictures, but I can't recommend most of Sony's Car audio lineup...

You can definitely put subs firing into the cabin through the backseat if you seal off the airspace from the cabin/trunk (no shared airspace). I'd personally just go sealed, but many people run IB and Aperiodic subs with amazing SQ results (just a lack of output). That, and you might have to know what you're doing (but if you're considering firing through the seats...well that's a project demanding thorough attention anyway).

it might work, i'd just use the 12 but thats me, and in the trunk you will have to buy or make a box.

Sony car audio sucks, get an alpine cd player or pioneer kenwood is also good. kenwood has a thing on the new cd players that can control the amp I dont know how well but it might be something to look into. Search around and compare.

Alpine is much better than Sony or Kenwood especially in the head unit arena, and Alpine has a feature that works very well for contolling the amp, eliminating the need for a remote bass ****.

Oh, and ANOTHER vote against Sony. Dude, if you haven't bought that Sony stuff yet, please don't. You will regret it later when you hear what you've been missing out on with better brands. If you MUST have one brand for everything, make it Infinity for subs, maybe amp, all speakers with an Alpine or Pioneer head unit. This won't cost nearly as much in the long run when you decide to pawn your Sony crap for some real car audio equipment. Oh, and no Audiobahn crap either.

Default 15" subs in the back seat?

lol. okok, convinced. no sony... ;-)

so. let me just sum it up:
12" is enough.
seal off the air space in the trunk for the backseat subs.
alpine, kenwood or pioneer would be better.

what about rockford fosgate? i heard they make good amps and subs too...
are sony cd players really that bad? how about pioneer then?
