If not most, but all will tell you thats a myth. The only reason I still have the LS tranny, is because of my redline.. redline is 6500rpms, so if I was cruising 80 on the freeway with a b16 tranny, my rpms would be a little high for my liking.. But you could solve all of that with the LS Final.. In my opinion GSR would be my choice, best of both wordls short-er gearing, and a bigger final. If you've got a big redline, then you wouldn't have to worry as much as I do. But don't get me wrong, B16 tranny will give you the best acceleration, hands down (of course besides the type r, but thats going a bit overboard imo).

The LS is good for highway pulls but really sucks for light to light pick one and live with it.

who knows.

Here's what someone who ran both trannies at the track had to say:

http://forums.clubsi.com/showf...art=1

Seems like he trapped higher using a B16, but the LS helped reduce his ET.

He also likes the LS better

That guy is full of ****. Claims he was bouncing off the rev limiter in fourth gear with the B16 tranny and 24.5 inch slicks, but bouncing off a 9000 RPM rev limiter is 135 MPH with a 24.5" slick, with 25" slicks it's about 137 MPH. If he thinks the gearing in the B16 trans is too short to get traction on 25" slicks in a car trapping 126 MPH, theres's something wrong in his head. Especially with a B16 motor that needs all the help it can get in terms of torque production.

Why would you go with the LS? lol...

If you want to go fast... shorter gears > longer gears... plain and simple.

Honda engine make all their power at high rpms, so you want to keep the rpms up as much as possible, that means shorter gearing. B16/ITR tranny would be ideal then if you ask me, but freeway driving would suck since your rpms will be fairly high, so I would then say go with a GSR tranny. I see no reason to actually use an LS tranny unless it came with your car.

Where does 4th run out though? I was talking to a friend about that and he said his buddy had that setup and when he shifted into 5th the rpms would drop pretty far.

I like my LS and that is all that I can say.

This will all depend on what kind of duty do you use the car for??

Going to work?? = LS tranny

Weekend warrior?? = B16 tranny

Everything car?? = Gs-R with LS 5th Gear.

Oh yeah don't forget to get an LSD.

This is my 0.02.

I love my LS and would never let it go, it will be one of those till death me us part deals.

And how did you came up with this?? The only difference between all the trannies are the gear ratio, the casings are the same. This is about DOHC trannies and it's Cable = Cable & Hydro = Hydro.

Why would you make such a crazy remark like this

Unless you drive around on a 24" tire - go LS. Anything else and you'll be banging off the limiter in 4th before you even finish the QM with less than a full slick's tire height.
