Default 2004 Honda civic radio install

i am having trouble removing the factory radio from my 04 honda civic, i tried to pop the center piece out with the radio and AC controls in it but i just messed up the piece around it, please give me some direction on how to remove this piece to remove the radio,

It depends if it is auto or stick, but basically you need to remove the piece that is between your shifter and center dash, below the center dash. Once you have removed that piece, if you look up under, you will see 2 8mm bolts with philips heads. I usually use an 8mm socket to remove, the philips heads sometimes just strip out. Once those 2 screws are removed then you can remove the whole dash piece.
