im runnin an ls/vtec in my 89, still using the stock 1.5 fuel pump.
sometimes vtec cuts in and out like its leaning out, or something. everything is hooked up right. is the stock fuel pump not strong enough for the 1.8? its running 39psi with the hose pinched. runnin stock fuel parts. thanks

 

Pump is good for 50psi...
Do u have a chip..?? Sometimes chips cause problems like that..

 

nope, no chip. stock pr3.
does a knock sensor have anything to do with vtec?
cause mine has been soldered back together.
