I'm running the 450s, no problem at like 42 psi or so, on uberdata. Runs perfect.

yea i used a b+m fpr and drilled a hole in the stock pfr and managed to get it down to 39 with the vac line on. ok so maybe its the injectors. what ohms should the 450 be at.

Hm not sure about that. What is your car doing that makes you think something is wrong with the injectors?

I have been running the stock pump for 7 months. I have a walbro 255 I am going to start running though (I did for a day and it was fine). Had to use my stock pump again though because I broke the walbro so I couldn't get a filter on it, once that is fixed the walbro is going back in.

Your problem sounds more like a stuck injector problem or something of that sort. I varried fuel pressure from 35 to 42 and it still idled fine and didn't turn the plugs to black. Thats on the stock pump of course.

damn why did I have so much problems with running the stock pump and 450's. At 8-10psi I was detonating or misfiring pretty bad once in vtec. My walbro pump solved the problem.

Might not have had your tuning correct.. If you kept the same fpr then with the walbro your fuel pressure went up and fixed your air/fuel ratio.. Just a thought..

well i didn't get the hp walbro...just the 255lph. I'm not sure if that would raise my fuel pressure or not. I tried fooling around with my maps a number of times to fix it before I got my fuel pump. I was basically maxing out my 450's and still it was doing it. I even tried retarding my timing all over the place and nothing worked until I did that. Maybe my stock fuel pump was crapping out?

Has there ever been a consensus on whether all "stock" sohc fuel pumps are created equal?

The stock pump from my 98' D16Y7 was certainly NOT up to the task (with only 60,000 miles at the time). The engine was "converted" to a y8 via a head, tranny, and ecu swap prior to the turbo. No matter what the tune (on dsm 450cc injectors), it would begin to lean out at about 4000 rpm's, then get pretty dangerous by 5500. Once again, the Walbro 255 lph solved all that. I went with the high pressure version. It's an easy install, fairly cheap, and I like the peace of mind knowing the pump can easily provide all the fuel my injectors might need.
