The obd 1 P30 and P72 will be kinda expensive. Anywhere from 250-350. You can usually find one on the partstrader.
A skunk2 p28 is basically a chipped version of the ecu that you are currently running in your 93 Si. Those cost anywhere from 100-150 to get chipped and will outperform a stock ecu. That is what I'd do in your case. Any import shop can refer you to someone that will be able to chip an ecu.
They have a variety of different programs that you can choose from. I say skunk2 because I hear it's very nice. Basically, all the programs are variations on how much fuel and other things you get.
hth.

i think i'm gonna go the skunk route unless i can get one of the obd1 ecus locally
can you recommend a reputable place, no partstrader

unfortunately, partstrader is the best bet to find one. Try the recycler or ebay or something. If you end up buying from a store...they're gonna charge you up the a-hole

What kind of 93 eg do you have? If you already have Vtec, then you have the p28 and all you have to do is get it reprogrammed. If not then i recommend the p28 or p72 ecu because their both reprogrammable ecu's. You may also want to check jdmhondaparts.com.
yeah KATMAN can reprogram VX, CX, DX and automatic P28's to DOHC VTEC spec. he can make it MUGEN spec or what ever program you want. i got my P72 reprogrammed by him and i have the option of making it stock just by removing the ecu cover and removing a jumper pin.

Hondata, Hondata, Hondata. Its all you need to know. Stage 2 or above will do you fine on your P28 (I'm assuming that's what you have). Perfect for my swap (99 Civic B16A2 into 93 del Sol D16Z6).

err actually I can't do VX ECU's yet -- he he
there's 2 different types of VX ECU's and I've only come across on type which isn't chipper friendly. The other type is more along the lines of a P28 ECU, which IS chipper friendly...
How's your ECU holdin up sir?
Blue R --
if you need reprogramming assistance, please let me know
I provide services for 88-95 ECU's only. I can't do OBD2 ECU's.
