Setting Idle Speed on '92 Accord
My 92 accord is idling at about 450, need to set it to around 700. My Haynes manual says to: with the engine running, first disconnect the IAC electical plug, but as soon as I do, the car dies. I tried adjusting it without unplugging it first, and it doesn't change.
Can anyone help? Thanks!

First clean the throttle plate and throttle body bore carefully w/ throttle body cleaner and an old toothbrush. Soft brush is necessary to avoid scratching the throttle body bore.
Next clean the Electronic Air Control Valve (EACV) and make sure it's working.
Then you should find the idle speed greatly improved and may not need to adjust the air bypass screw as per the Haynes manual.
good luck

The throttle body bore (to the best of my knowledge) is the "hole" that the throttle body plate goes in (that piece of metal that turns to allow air to flow into the throttle body). Didn't mean to sound condescending when I said that if I did. But that's what it is, again, to the best of my knowledge, someone please post up on this to confirm or give this guy the proper answer. I hope I helped and thanks to anyone who follows up on this.
