Default Dented oil pan - Effecting vtec, wheres pickup tube?

Minor dents, just all over.

I think it may be effecting my vtec. Where is the pickup tube located on 98 Gsr's?

Thanks

When you say minor, how deep into the pan. Check your oil level. You could be low in oil, low oil level will screw with vtec.

oil is good.

Minor. Like juts a lump here and there. Im going to remove it and pound it flat. And inspect the pickup tube.

Then im going to remove my solenoid and clean it real good with brake cleaner. Fill up with soem 10W-40 and hope everythings good.

If it isnt. Im going to 'jump the solenoid' and if it works. Its probably a bad solenoid, or infact low pressure. If this is the case, i will purchase a oil pressure gauge, and if the levels are safe i will continue to jump it rather then replace the sensor.

If it dosent work after jumping it. It must be a bad ecu.

the oil pickup is closer to the crank pully side of the motor. it's about 6 inches to the left of the pulley (looking at the oil pan from the front of the car). if ur not sure of ur oil pressure, just get urself an oil pressure gauge

Yeah im going to get a gauge. But the pan still shouldnt be dented.

I just want to make sure everything visually is good before i jump vtec to test. Dont want any flat spots on my cams.

THe dent was RIGHT dead centre of my pickup. Pickup was chewed up a bit.

Atleast now i know the cause, much better reason for low oil pressure (not low but enough not to let vtec work) then too much bearing clearance, or oil pump Nice easy fix.

To bad its sunday and i have to wait till tuesday to order a new pickup
