Default Went to the track last night, giving honda-tech a chance to make me feel worse

I finally ran my hatch at the track last night here are the results.

I am pretty disappointed because I know basically what I should be running and what others with similar setups are running. Here goes

R/T .856
60' 2.305
330 6.406
1/8 9.735
MPH 75.16
990 12.508
1/4 14.999
MPH 93.41

This was the second of two runs. I showed up a little late and was only able to run twice. The first run was a complete waste.

Here is my setup
93 cx hatch
95 GSR motor with JDM itr tranny 4.8 final drive
DC sports 4-1 ceramic header
Tanabe g-force medallion cat-back
2.5 inch test pipe
exedy organic clutch
12b flywheel
3/4lb underdrive pulley
Skunk2 intake manifold
J's racing intake
chipped p28 with a kenji program
14 inch steelies with azenis that are almost shot.

I know that my 60's are a little high, but i still figured that I would be able to hit mid maybe even low 14's.

Are my 60's the main problem. Does the MPH match up with the times that I was expecting?

You ran a 14.9 with a GSR and all that other stuff?

hmm, with a gsr and those mods? More pratice :-) I'm sure a b16a would run around 14.5 and below that in a cx..so those times doesn't look so good.

Tell me about it.
I beat a friend of mine who ran a 15.3 by about a car and a half when I bought the car.

Since then I added the test pipe, skunk2 mani, j's intake, and p28 and got a 14.9.

I guess practice makes perfect, and as you can tell I have very little practice.

The reaction time has no effect on the E/T.

To me, even though the 60' could be better, the trap speed still seems low for a modified C1 in a hatch back. You should probably investigate the health and tuning of the motor. I'd suspect that if all is well as far as compression & leakdown is concerned, there's quite a bit of power left in it with some dyno tuning.

I bought the car in february and at that time the compression was 210 across the board. I have changed the oil regilously and after the recent mods (skunk2 im, p28) the car pulls noticably harder.

I might as well check the compression again and make sure that everything is still in good condition.

It is weird there isn't anything about that run that is positive. It isn't like I can look at my trap speed and assume that I am good for a better time. Even the trap is lower that I expected. Oh well.

You DEFINITELY need to practice. Go on the "Official DOHC 1/4 Mile Times" thread and look at everyone else's time. They're down here in the low 14s to upper 13s. You need some work. Practice makes perfect.

You were just spinning tires huh? Whats your Elevation? Isnt that trap speed good for low 14's? even maybe a 13?

yeah i ran a 14.8 in my gsr hatch, with i/h/e and skunk2 intake manifold, for my first time i was happy, i was on my complete street set-up, full interior my SI's in the front, so i mean if i got better i could drop it, but practice makes perfect

I barely did a burnout before the run. I didn't really feel like I spun 1st too bad, but my friends told me I did. When I shifted into 2nd I didn't spin at all.

Is it? i thought that is was still a little bit lower than it should be.

I think in the next few weeks I am going to get new wires and plugs and take another stab at this.

I've yet to see that with just bolt ons but ok...

A 2.3 60' isn't that bad guys, yeah he had some tire spin but he didn't do to bad. a 93mph trap isn't good for 13's (I've never seen it anyway) It's good for a high 14, maybe .1-.2 faster with a good 60's.

Dengar:

As far as your run, a 14.9 isn't that bad if you consider a few factors. First of all what were the other Honda's running that night? Was everyone running slower or was it just you? Your trap of 93.4 is pretty consistant with your ET, I think you can prob improve a little at that track with that trap but what your looking at is pretty much it. Your 60' really isn't to bad, you can get it down some though whcih will help your times some.

The other factor you may want to consider is tuning. I see that your running a Kenji chipped p-28. I am using the same setup and my car required quite a bit of tuning after the cam install with the kenji chip (car was running extrememly rich) For your mods, you really would not need to change much from the stock setup. I would either get on a dyno with a vafc and have the car tuned or even before that try running your car with the gsr ecu and see what happens. Like you and everyone else said, with your setup you should be running a little better but there are always factors to consider. High 14's still =

yea im with luserkid cuz i have a b18b in my cx hatch 93 and i ran a 15.8 i dont have a slip to look at at this time to tell u the exact numbers. but im about 1 mile up in elevation from sea level. so it really does make a big difference. and if u are at sea level. that is what i would probably run there.... and the reaction time would mostly affect a head to head race. not ur E/T if i am understanding how that works correctly. \
