Default LS vs d16

would a swap from a d16 to an LS be a very noticeable gain in a 92-95 Eh9? (4door sedan) I plan on buying a 4 door as a daily. but I already know the pick up on it is slow. and I am thinking of swapping an LS with auto tranny. maybe a cai if anything, but trying to stay relatively stock. unless a stock LS is gutless too. just want to know if I should expect to mod the LS or will it be peppy enough for daily driving?

ls is a great swap and if u are not sphc vtec right now the swap will be very noticeable. if u are running sohc vtec now it will only be noticeable at the track.

meehhh,
i think you might see alittle gain,
cuz you have a heavier than normal EH, and the LS has more torque than the d16.

but seriously man, you have an auto 4door,
you'll need to convert to manual, and significantly upgrade the powerplant to see any real gains.

I dont think an LS is very worth it, as the swap would probably run you over a grand for really not $1000 worth of speed.

swap to 5spd, or turbo it, or maybe lsvtec,
or just leave it the heck alone is my opinion.

LS is a great motor to swap in if you plan on turboing it or slapping vtec head on it. I wouldn't call it the most lively N/A motor in it's stock form.

And BTW your car doesn't have a d16 in it. you got LX motor d15 something I think b7.

hmmm

well if he's got an lx then the ls motor would be a good upgrade,

if its an ex, then its even heavier, and the d16z6 already in there is fairly potent in and of itself(if u kno wut to do with it )

If the D16 is on it's last leg swap the LS in and leave it alone as this is your daily. If it's not keep the D16 and leave it stock as well. I think the LS is a good swap (boosted of course) but for a daily driver the D16 is fine.

yep that's funny how that works an LX is lighter then EX (by like 200 pounds), I don't get it but it's the truth. Freaken BauleyCivic got like low 15's out of his high milage LX motor with z6 head

I dont have the car yet. I may just get an accord for a daily driver. seems liek this might not be the route I want to take.

LS torque numbers will devour any D-Series Torque numbers. So yes you will feel a big difference in daily driving, or cruisine around time. Friend has an LS in a EX coupe, Im more then sure you will be happy with an automatic ls for daily driven.

However, do you want to spend that much money to upgrade your motor in a daily driver? Damn adults with moneeeey.

BTW, is lx sedan = dx version of a coupe? if so, your going to have a d15, which is super worst then the d16 that comes in EH's. Those d16(z6)'s have vtec.
OPPS ABK ALREADY STATED SO ABOVE.

the swap will be VERY noticable, though id go with a 5 speed. just as a daily driver the low end torque makes a big difference, also the longer geears are good for gas milage.

i had a d16z6 and could tell a big power gain the first time i drove it after the swap, so id say go for it....

btw i have a 94 4-door ex which now has a b18b

I was wondering if its better to just get a LS and 5 speed swap or just 5 speed swap and turbo sohc? I would think even a sohc with turbo would be faster than a ls if they are both in th same car right? D series turbo is cheap and d series engines are cheap to replace. A LS is a better engine to mod in the long run though I know. Whats better turbo a sohc with manual swap or b series swap? I know this questions been beat to death.

if you already have the a decent sohc, turbo that..... if your starting from scratch b18 turbo would be the way to go....
