noob intro...
i guess i should intro myself, as i will be lurking in here more often now.
my name is mike, better known as Sailor. i have been on this site for a while, However, i have owned nothing but german cars until this week. yet, i'm not a complete noob, as i have been around all sorts of japanese cars from my job, as well as my friends cars.
My cars---
Honda-- well, my civic is a 90 si. Amazingly, i bought this car on monday, transfered the title on thursday, and motor swapped it thrusday night. car is/was 100% original and complete. Paint is faded, none to minimal rust, and the normal tear in driver's seat. Other than that--it is all good-- even has all the owner's manuels and warranty/service records plus some odd-ball aftermarket a/c setup that was still charged (flopped it and left it in for now). The reason why i got it for a steal is the head gasket was blown, has high miles, and owner felt it was not worth it. I was in the right place at the right time-- so i sold my old daily driver, 84 jetta gli that had a good bit of work done to it, and bought my hatch. I swapped in a 6th gen dx motor, and just drive the damn thing. very fun car to drive so far, but could use some more "oomph".
Plans for my honda though-- not sure. this is my second car, and primarily my daily driver, so it wont get my devoted attention. However, either a junkyard turbo setup, sohc vtec or a mini-me motor will eventualy find its way under the hood as i have all the parts sitting on my shelf or easily accesible w/o breaking my pockets.
my main car, however, is still german. i rock a vw cabriolet, aka the bitch basket. Cars primary use is in the summer to race, and enjoy driving it. I am hard on the car to say the least, but it is one hell of a sleeper. car holds it's own, but is not where i would like it to be. currently, the car is a rolling shell I took this summer off from racing to build my car, so it should be done around jan or feb. I don't like estimating what it should run, thats bad luck/karma. However, when the motor was internally all oem parts--it ran a best of 12.7 @ 15lbs of boost w/ a somewhat small t3/t4 to4b s trim.
and thats my intro...
thanks
