What would you pay for a '92 Si?
Since my DA died I have had a budy of mine, who works at a Honda dealership, keeping an eye out for something old school that I can pick up cheap and drive while I work on it. He calls me today and tells me he came across someone with a 92 Si with something like 260K on the clock. Apparently the body is so so, the interior is SLIGHTLY better than average, but the engine has some issues, like a leaking main seal and a leaking oil pan (at least that is what he thought). The car is running and being driven. Apprently the lady wants $800 for the car, but just from hearing about it I dont think it could be worth more than $500. I have a B16a that is in pretty good shape still in my DA, but I dont have a local shop to do the swap that I trust.
I am just seeking out any opinions here. Let me know what you guys think.

id check out the body and see how it is... seeing as how the motor sucks that really doesnt matter if you are going to do the swap... and id say try to do the swap yourself... its not a terrible hard swap even for a noob mechanic.. id say its worth $800...
i got mine that the body was in decent condition.. with great interior except for the carpet and it was just a shell... and got it for $1000.. i think you are getting a good deal

Put it this way... i got my 92 si approx a year ago from the original owner...paint slightly faded on roof but 85k and nice interior...well maintained..3500OUCH. It has AC... nice.
I'd pay $800 all day long for almost any hatch. If it's straight, then it's only worth more. I dumped $1200 into a rusted DX hatch, and that's the least expensive hatch on record in my area.

Thanks guys. Maybe I will try to go see it next week. I guess you all are right, if the body is straight and it still drives it must be worth $500-800.
Does anyone know of the top of their head what is needed to do a B16A swap into this car? I am guessing motor mounts, but not sure what else. Thanks!

I just missed out on a stock, never modified 92 Si a few days ago. Clean title, few dents, a scratch or two. Everything worked fine, mechanically and eletrically. Red paint was fading, but it sold for $2K. And that's a great deal. He sold it before his ad even came out on print. BAH!
or just find somebody to do it for beer and pizza
i had mine done by a buddy, he ordered the engine and made sure it was delivered and ****, he has mad connections, and yeah, he just took my old motor for labor, and i got to watch and help out. i didn't know **** about cars back then, and now i could easily do the swap, but hey, i got rid of an old motor i didnt want nor had room for, and he made sure everythign was running fine, changed timing belt, cleaned all the pieces. he even throuh in a strut tower bar free, free intake, and gave me his type-r ecu chipped. cool guy, so i got free **** outa the deal.
