Throw out bearing Q & A?!?!
my TOB is makin' a verrrry annoyin' racket also.
I do know that it is my TOB b/c when I engage the clutch pedal, the racket goes away.
I do know another thing and that is if my TOB siezes up then I will not be drivin' any where.
I do have a question though. Would the TOB have anything to do with the catch point on the clutch pedal? It seems as though I have to let the clutch pedal out significantly farther than I did before hearing the noise. It also seems that on take off the clutch seems to be slippin' a little but it doesn't do it when I grab second or third.... ::shrugs::

Not so much. It's more likely that it's the input shaft bearing, as it's been said already. It's common on the d-series transmissions. I had to rebuild one for a friend on her 93 del Sol for the very same reason.

Yup, I had the same problem in my dx.

This is the bearing at the opposite end on the main shaft. Though my ISB was bad, it wasn't chewed up like this fella'. The ISB was just very loose but actually spun quite freely.
Through the combo of those 2 bearings - my tranny sounded like it was going to explode. However, it didn't start off that way - it once was a whirring, then slight grind, moderate grind...and so on and so on...
Replacing these two was....easy....but you really need a second hand for the operation (even after the tranny is out).
I probably drove with the bearing in that shape for 10-15k miles before it just got out of hand and even then, when I opened up the tranny, the magnet pretty much caught all the metal flakes. I fixed it and presently have >9k miles on my rebuilt unit.
