My brother, Archidictus, was using my car and the ******* got rearended... He says the lady had a little baby, and she looked kind of poor.. So, now what do I do? It spider webbed my paint on my bumper and left a huge mark from her license plate. She was only going 10 - 15 mph he said. I will need to take my bumper off next weekend while I'm home to see if she did any damage to anything under it, but it doesnt look like it did.

Here are my options:

1. Do nothing and just fix it down the road, since we can do that stuff at my house.

2. Make her pay for paint(since i dont have any captiva blue paint), and then paint it at my house.

3. Get it painted at a shop, and make her pay for everything.

I dont know what to do because our family is pretty well off(but my parents dont buy me or pay for car related stuff usually), and if she can't really aford it then I wouldnt want to make her pay.. My brother said he doesnt even know if she has insurance.. I have her number and stuff. I just need to make a decision.. What do you guys think?

 

Have her pay for it. Sorry if that sounds like a bastardly thing to do, but if she hadn't rear ended your car it wouldn't be an issue. I'd honestly have a professional body shop do it to save myself the time and hassle of prepping and paiting due to someone elses neglegance.

get some quotes and see what you want to do... after you see the bil you may have a change of heart. It is easier to make desicision when you got all the facts

Actually, in all seriousness, my back kinda hurts. I've had whiplash in my neck before and it doesn't feel the same, but my sprine right below the shoulder blades aches. I'm going to wait until tomorrow before I determine whether or not any damage may or may not have been done, but I really hope I don't have to tax this woman of any money for medical expenses.

I'm really surprised the airbag in one of our cars didn't go off. She hit me doing at least 10mph and it knocked the car a good four or five feet with my foot solidly on the brakes.

This just isn't my ******* week. I'm angry .

I understand you don't want her to have to pay for it, but it was her fault. Your a better man than I am for even feeling bad about having her possibly pay for anything.

I know I give you a hard time, but I really do hope that your okay.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the air bag sensors are in the front of the car. Which would mean that only hers would have gone off. Also, bumpers are tested up to 5 mph, so between the both of your bumpers it doesn't leave a lot of energy to be dissipated. What kind of car was it to push the car 5 feet with your foot on the brakes?

I'm thinking about just telling her to give me 100 bucs and we'll call it even.. I dunno.. The paint on my bumper wasnt perfect or anything anyway..

It was a Dodge Caravan (minivan) full of baby gear and ****. I just asked my brother if there were SRS sensors in the rear...something tells me there aren't, but he didn't know either. She didn't even hit the brakes before she hit me, or I would've heard them squeak or lock up or something. I road race so I pay a lot of attention to that kind of sound and heard nothing approximating it.

I did, however, hear the highschool chick walking ont he sidewalk scream "Oh ****!" as she covered her mouth and looked at me. I was too busy slamming my flashers and preparing a homicidal ninja rage to really pay attention after that.

Well see if she has insurance, if she does then no problem she wont pay for it thats why its called insurance, her rate might go up but no big deal a few extra bucks a month. If she doesnt have insurance then call the cops its against the law for someone to drive without insurance anywyas. What if it was more serious and she didnt have insurance then you would be screwed and have to pay out of pocket, ect.. Or if she hits someone else and kills them then the family of the would be fuckd. I have to pay insurance wither I want to or not so why shouldnt everyone pay like they should. To get basic *** coverage isnt expensive at all anyways but thats not the point. Do what you feel is right but think of the next guy and take care of it. I would vote let her insurance pay IMO

 

I would guess that a body shop estimate will more than likely be about 1000.00 (paint matching, prepare and paint with primer, base coat, clear coat) - it is auite unbelievable what a little 'body work can cost......

I would get an estimate.
