Default bad grounding in cabin?

hey guys, ive been having a bad problem with my interior cluster. for the most part the only thing on my cluster that will work is my speedo cable, but as far as my tach, accessory lights, temp gauge, and gas gauge they just don't come on. now sometimes when i open up my car and vtec kicks in (i guess its some of that mad tight power y0) all of a sudden the tach will jump up and all the accessory lights pop up, but if i try to hit turn on my blinker which usually never works it will kill the cluster and the only thing which will work is my speedo (cable driven) this happens rarely and for the most part im riding without knowing whats going on and im just having to fill her up with gas every once in awhile to make sure i don't run out of gas. can anyone lead me in the right direction of what i should look at first, the car is fully stripped and all that is in there is my gauge cluster. im not sure if i took a ground off and its just grounding out every so often or what, but its getting a bit frustrating

That's quite a conundrum you have on your hands. I don't know, personally.

all my friends are kinda confused too. i guess my best chance is just to go in there and take it all out and make sure all the wires are looking decent. im just happy theres no dash there, otherwise i would have a much larger problem.

sounds like your going hunting, Good luck! sorry I'm not too much help.
make sure there's not any exposed wires going through the firewall

it could be the cluster itself. possibly have another to swap in?

did you do any rewiring or is it stock since its a mechanical speedo.

hmmm good point about the cluster. the only thing ive done to the car as far as wiring is converting it to obd1 via blown90hatch's conversion harness. also the ys1 tranny im using has the mechanical (i think that would be the proper term) vss. there are a couple of other guys with some crxs so i should be able to get my hands on one to see if it will work. hopefully it just turns out to be some bad wiring.
