Default Difference between MIG and TIG

Mig = GMAW (gas metal arc welding) Tig = GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding)

Tig is more controlled in everyway possible, requires more skill, and is slower, and more versatile. Weld anything from carbon steel to titanium. Also less strength.

Mig is less controlled, faster welding, easier. Less versatile. Most widly used on carbon steels.

I could go into SOO much detail, thats just the basics.

Someone said you got to weld in a certain direction. what direction or pattern do you make while your mig welding... i bought a 90amp mig welder befor i knew anything.. now i want to get rid of it and get a mig welder with gas instead of rosin core... the welds look ugly as hell..

You mean more strength.

They were probably talking about the angle your welding at. You want to push the bead, and change your angle to get the best penetration.
