Default Crazy temp gauge making car run rich?

I have a DOHC ZC... put about 8k since i swapped the motor.

While doing the swap a guy ripped the wires apart that was connected to the temp sensor, (don't know what happened that caused him to rip it was at a shop), but he said he fixed it. The temp gauge only goes up when hitting some stop signs, or lights.... if i don't the temp doesn't go up at all, if I hit a lot of traffic the temp gauge shoots all up to the to until I start to move.

The car now is blowing a lot of black smoke when going at full throttle, puffs a small bit when accelerating normally. But it wasn't doing this when i first swapped the motor. Is the temp gauge causing this problem?.... but the temp gauge has been going crazy since i put the motor in?

The temp gauge has nothing to do with the cars ecu, the water temp sensor does. Are you throwing any codes ?

if it helps, my coolant temp sensor is broken right now. its throwing a code 6 i believe, and the CEL. and yes, all i see is green on the a/f ratio cause the car is running full rich since it broke.

sunpro, its not a wideband or anything, but it normally will cycle, but not with the CEL on.
