You need to make clearer the exact nature of your problem. What is a "1-inch"? Do you have a soft pedal, pedal that gradually settles under foot pressure, or brakes locking up?

regards

If you build up pressure and you gradually feel loss of pressure while holding the brake, the MC, a hose, or caliper is leaking somewhere. MC can leak internally w/ no loss of fluid. If you're not loosing fluid, MC is fault.

good luck
