Default WTF is this peice ?

if you look in the middle of the head you see a peice of the deck (a hole) past the head gasket.

BTW: this is a B17 block.

does it need to be covered ? cause most of the head don't cover it.

you need to be more specific about the area youre talking about or circle it with photoshop or MS Paint. More than likely, its an oil passage way and it will be fine, but go ahead and be more specific so we can help you more.

thats the wrong headgasket, if you look you will tell that none of the coolent holes around the water jacket line up, with the haed gasket, you need to take that back and get a new one.It will never work, your car would over heat if you use it.

Don't listen to anyone else. That is the correct gasket. It looks like you may have a blockguard installed in your block, that is why it looks like the water passages don't line up; but they do.
I believe you are talking about the little casting impression on the block ( see pic ) That is nothing, disregard it all together. You are 100% fine!!! Trust me

my bad i wasn't thinking about the block gaurd being in backwards but if i hadn't of noticed that the passages don't line up then he would have had a big problem on his hands.flip that bitch back around right and you will be good.
