Default Problems with rear drum after change

i changed the pads/shoes on my rear 94 cx civic and the rear drum barely fits back on even with the adjust screw shortened all the way. Is the axle suppose to turn easily??? or is there suppose to be a decent amount of friction when turing the axle?

i changed the little pistons on both side and flushed the fluid because the oem pistons were leaky.

thanks

with the wheel off turn the drum and have someone else adjust the tension(looks like a star with teeth, you will hear a clicking sound when being adjusted), do this until the drum can no longer spin freely, it should have some restriction on it. if it still feels a little loose, tighten it some more

how do you adjust the star adjuster with the drum still on? dont you have to have that off to adjust?

i adjusted the star thing all they way short just to get the drum on it the wheel turn but with about 15 pounds of turn force estimate

look behind the drum, you will see a little notched hole just for the purpose of adjustment. then you can either buy the tool to adjust it with, or just use a screw driver like i did. it is a little hard do do at first, but once you get the screw driver on the teeth it will become easier

It should be self-adjusting if it's too loose. After I did mine, I just put the drum cover back over the shoes, secured it with lug nuts, hopped in the driver's seat and pumped the brake a few times and it adjusted itself.
