i cant get anything right!!
i have a 96 prelude and about two weeks ago i just swapped in a OBD I jdm h22 longblock, keeping my h23 tranny(M2S4). well about a week later my h23 tranny blew due to my dumbass not tightening the drain bolt hard enough.
I bought a USDM h22 tranny (M2F4) from a junkyard for 350 because it had a crack in the housing. They welded it for me and i thought everything was alright. My friend nick and I put in the transmission over this past weekend and it was working great last night.
When i was on the way home from school my RPM's read almost 4k at 70 mph. About halfway home my speed sensor broke and i did not have MPH. What i am trying to ask is, has my transmission been opened up and re-geared? at only 70 mph it seems extremely high to be at 4k rpm. Please let me know what rpm your h22 runs at 60, 70, and 80 mph. thanks

at 70 mph it should be in the mid 3000's, 80mph is close to 4000, 90 mph is 4500.
it could be the tranny, or it could be a bum VSS. I don't think your tranny has been regeared, since there aren't a lot of different H22 compatible trannies with different (higher) gear ratios.

IDK
Everything is good, just fix your VSS
Quite possible ur tach is off by a 1K rpms, get that **** reset and fix the VSS

well my sensor broke on the highway so i am getting it replaced tomorrow. they guy said i should be from 2700-3000 at 60 mph. on my old tranny i was doing 4k at 80 mph. i do a lot of highway driving and barely any drag racing so i might replace it.
i can either sell it on here if anyone wants a preformance tranny or just get a refund. what should i do?

70 mph and running at 4000 sounds odd. My old H23 and my current JDM H22 run at 3500rpms at 70...4000 at 80.....4500 at 90. I thought USDM 5th gen H22 trannies were geared SLIGHLY longer than the previous H22 gearing. Not positive though.
I can't imagine what other gear it could have in it besides the normal gearing.
