Default rhd drive/firewall question

im thinking about making my car RHD (right hand drive) when i do my engine swap, btw yes i know i will get a million responses saying its a waste of money blah blah blah, if i were to undertake this operation what kind of welding/replaceing of the firewall would have to be done. understanding that relocation of steering column, new dash etc. ?

a buddy of mine did this in a eg, he drilled out the welds on the firewall and put the new one in, he had a jdm rhd integra clip for all his parts though, he bought a motor swap that way so i guess it isnt realy a waste of money if you do it that way

You could pic up a front clip from and jdm porter. Most of time you'll have to buy the whole clip with motor and suspension. Sometime you'll get lucky and they have just the front clip.

i dont know about the details but they didnt seem to run into any problems. just needed to extend the harness to the other side. make sure you test the wires thoroughly.

from what i hear you gotta swap the upperdash supporrt as well? and its pretty much straight forward just cut out tack and weld a bead... i took apart my entire RHD clip... but i have yet to cut it out... then everything else should bolt up. im going to use the RHD under dash harness and find a RHD engine harness... hopefully i dont run into any problems. LOL

it wont work, you need the complete dash harness from the RHD, and the complete engine harness from the RHD, cant mix and match it for obvious reasons.

we have converted RHD to LHD civics/integras. the fasest way is to buy a half cut without the engine from an importer. its cut after the A pillar. comes w/ dash HVAC , wiring harness, pedals, steering rack, steering column, console etc. this will make ur job a lot easier.
my next question is why?

if u had a front clip from a rhd would u be able to swap it without welding the entire rhd front on the car?

your best bet would be to drill out the spotwelds on the firewall, and replace it with the RHD one, I just had mine done, and i couldnt be more happy with the results.

after paint

done by Red Zone Performance in San Jose, ca. along with all the other fab work.
I think they are a memeber here,Red Zone is the screen name i belive..

Could you use a mig welder to weld in the firewall or would you have to use a tig? Just wondering as I have no experience welding
