Default experiances with pager alarms/alarms

I think it would be a good idea to have a thread dedicated to different alarms and how poeple have liked them. A was thinking about this beacuse I am in the market for a new alarm, and would like to read some personal expericances with them. Currently I have no alarm, but I'm looking at the Ungo sr5000, and the compustar SS series, as well as the presteige 996.
I have used the python pager alarm and was pleased with it, except for the range on it, not far ehough
So who has used what and were you satisfied with it. pros/cons ect..

i have a DEI Clifford Matrix RS3 pager alarm system. i like it alot, along with a proximity sensor, it has been help ful many times. The distance for the pager signal isnt very good, but it works when at home or when your not inside a mall or something. i give it a 8/10.

well, with a few years of experience in stereo business i can tell u that the most reliable alarm is any DEI brand. they currently control the alarm industry so what ever comes out they are the first to have and they always have the best quality stuff. u should definitly stick with DEI.

Actually I would tend to disagree with this a little bit. The reason DEI is ahead of the game is that they buy out their major competition. A perfect example is Clifford. Clifford G4 alarms were way more superior to anything that DEI ever made. Unfortunately Clifford was bought out by DEI and there products are now in the hands of DEI. DEI almost ruined Clifford.

When clifford was bought out DEI refused to honor any warranty of products that were sold under the clifford that was done before they bought them out. It didn't matter if you purchased your alarm 1 day before the buy out you were now warranty less. It caused a lot of resentment to the brand. Not to mention DEI was slow as hell to ship any Clifford products out to retailers. They were more concerned about getting DEI products to store that were just clifford authorized Dealers. I know the store that I work at when DEI bought out clifford we waited 5 months for a shipment of Concept 400's and Intellistart 4's. It was hard telling customers that DEI is now the owner of the clifford brand name and they don't seem to care about it.

I would really love to see where Clifford would be right now if they weren't bought out by DEI. I think that we would have some pretty cool alarms that are way more advanced than what they are now.

Also my biggest pet peevee about DEI is on most of the Alarms the wiring diagram is printed on the back of the brain. I not sure about the new ones since I have seem them. I don't know what DEI was thinking but let's give the thiefs an a helpful hand in stealing the car.

Good brands of Alarms are Code Alaram. I know everyone here likes to bash code alarm and just sings praises about compustar, but I have seem about 200 cars installed with Code alarm products and the only problem that I have seem with them is the remote (2 way model) the LCD display wasn't working properly. With Compustar I have seen a whole bunch of them come back because of brains getting wonky. I always loved it when a customer called a said that their car was starting and stopping for no apparent reason. That was my favorite phone calls.

I agree with you 100% I have a clifford concept 400 g4 and I talked to about 4 local clifford dealers about switching to something up to date because I wanted a pager and they said that dei sucks and they bought out clifford and I was better off keeping my old alarm because the technology was better. I was like dam don't you want some money lol. The only reason dei is on top is because all of their piece of **** alarms are bought by people who don't want to spend the money on top of the line alarm **** and just want something to make some noise.

You can get a pager for it and run it off the aux channels on the alarm. My friend has an autopage that he attached to his clifford Concept 400. It works really well. Doesn't get the range that the new ones do but it still get a lot. Plus it is 10000x better than the clifford pagers.

Code Alarm TW-1 are really good. They are an alarm/starter combo that works on either manual or auto cars. That is what I have in my car, and most of my friends are using them. The bonus with this alarm is the 2 remotes. One companion and once Pager remote. I love it. I switched out the siren though for 2 clifford Piezo sensor that put out a **** load of noise. It freaks out my friend who did the install all the time we get into my car.

My installer has a Clifford G4 Concept 400 in his car for the summer and using a tw-1 in the winter. Kinda cool. Both have their own batteries in the car.

I personally don't like ungo simply because it is made by clarion. I prefer to get things from companies that specialize in one area and not branch themself out to much. An example is Focal. Love their Utopia speakers, wouldn't get rid of them at any cost. Well Boston Acoustics is my subs and amp. Love them. they know clarity. Sony, well the old mobile es series was awesome hence the reason I have my C90.

Range with the Code ALarm Tw-1 I have never really tested it. I know that their is a jumper in the brain that you switch and it doubles your range. I get a **** load of it. I even get reception when I'm in the shopping mail. I haven't had any problems with my alarm and neither have my friends. The good thing about Code Alarm is they do a lot of Factory alarms in vehicle. I know they do the alarm for the corvette and hummer, plus most GM's, Chev, Ponitac, and some fords.

If you are looking to get a Code alarm let me know. I can get you one at cost +shipping from my work. Let me know if you are interested.

I would think that this would not be of concern since a thief would have already found the alarm brain. In this case, they could just cut all the wiring coming out of the brain and instantly disable the entire system.

Anyways, I find your posts to be extremely informative.

I have a cheap chinese brand 'Steelmate' alarm and it has been great for 1.5 years.
Kind of an ironic name though
