JL Wiring and Interconnects
Wondering if Anyone has used JL's wiring in an install they've done, The fit and finish on thier pieces are amazing and the appear to be very install friendly, but I'd like to hear from some people who have used them in thier own system or installed them in customer cars.
Thanks
Thanks
I've seen the JL audio power kits. The even come with a grounding stud. they are really nice and the RCAs allow for excellent cable management. just like their amps, they are very installer friendly.
I haven't used JL's wiring and interconnects, but I can offer my experience:
If you can get a good deal on the wiring, then go for it. It isn't going to matter all that much really.
Power wire: Knukonceptz.com (My favorite power wire because of price/strand count)
Signal Interconnects: I make my own (Mogami 2534 Quad cable, cardas silver solder, RCA and Balanced end connectors), but pretty much anything will work fine. If JL has a good deal, go for it. Knukonceptz has some nice stuff. Some people spend more on brands such as IXOS. I don't think it will make much difference though. If you want to do it right, just make sure to use only as much cable as you need (try not to have an extra 15 ft. of cable just coiled up for no reason).
What I do: I generally spend on something decent just for peace of mind in knowing that what I got is "technically" better. I use Mogami wire because the purity of the copper is slightly better than Canare Star Quad wire (these are generally accepted as mid-audiophile names). I use Cardas Silver solder because I got it for cheap. I use Cardas and Neutrik Ends because there was a groupbuy on them...eheh. Wherever there is a good deal on something decent...I'm in.
I won't claim that I can hear a difference because...well I've never fairly tested wires against each other in a car environment.

Yes, Knuconcepts does make some really nice wire for the price, I've used them in two of my past vehicles. I still use a cap from them as well.
I'm gonna be honest, I was going to use the JL for the simple fact it's JL. Everything else except the headunit will be JL so I was wanting to stick with them. I'm not saying that all wire is created equal, it's not, but I know it will not make or break my system. I was just afraid that since it's JL's first attempt at wiring they might not have been as installer friendly as some companies. I know JL did awesome their first time around on amps, So I do have faith in them.

I've used mogami and canare star quad for multiple setups - balanced and unbalanced and they have always done well. In this particular install though, I bit the bullet and went retail.....
I'd trust that JL did a pretty good job with their wires. They look fairly well thought out

No, but an installer where I work used a set. usually he uses monster cable power wiring with micro xlns, which takes much more effort to wire manage nicely. they are much like their amps in terms of ease of use and flexiblity and very well thought.
