Default Playing With My Beater D Series

Car: 1991 Civic 4 Door LX 147k miles
Engine: 1996 D16Y7, ? miles, we’re told in the 70k range but who knows
Trans: 5sp, Not sure if it’s a LX or Si
Fuel Inj: Stock 1991 1.5L, with dual point – wow!
No A/C and No P/S
Other Mods: Are you kidding?

Run 3: stock manifold, stock cat, stock exhaust (around 1.5” to 1.75”)
Run 5: open 4-1 stepped header
Run 6: 4-1 stepped header, stock cat, stock exhaust (around 1.5” to 1.75”)

Run 3 vs Run 5

Run 3 vs Run 6

Run 5 vs Run 6

In 2-3 weeks I hope to build a 2-1/4” exhaust including a high performance cat. I expect a little improvement in the mid range over the open header and maybe 1-2 loss up top at most.

BTW, this post was preapproved by Lip.

Why in the name of all that's holy!!!!? A d15 with DP injection?
Actually, those are some pretty impressive gains.
You need to make an exhaust for my ITR that will net me 11 more HP

It's a D16Y7, not a 1.5.

Throw a Y8 manifold on it.

Well I just got the new test cat in today for this car. It has a different size cell structure than the Carsound and it's supposed to flow about 8% better. DFE will be doing a flow test on the 2 cats. The real interesting thing about this cat other than the greater flow area is a stainless steel mesh that protects the brick mats from blowing out. It was developed for taxi cabs and cop cars that are running for so many hours straight. Some of the 940** Carsound cats had the problem of the mat blow out then the bricks come loose and break apart.

Plus, the black has a higher temp rating.
