Default help me choose the right turbo.

hey guys.....

before you all yell at me to search I'm letting you all know that i have been searching.......for the past 2 weeks and its all kinda confusing to me. I'm a n/a guy and i know pretty much everything i need to know for a n/a setup.

but.....my n/a B20 bottom end is shot so I'm going to rebuild it for boost. what I'm having a hard time deciding on is the correct size turbo for my application/needs.

my goal: 330-350whp tuned on 91 pump gas (93-94 is also available is needed)
the car: 95 integra - daily driven.
engine: B20 re-sleeved with weisco low compression pistons and eagle rods.
head: ported B16 with ARP headstuds and AEBS intake manifold.

what I'm looking for is something that doesn't start to spool at 5000rpm+ like some of the dyno's i have seen around here. i would like the boost to build up somewhat early maybe between 3500-3800rpm but still make some good strong power up in the top of the rpm band. i think a turbo that is not to big and not to small would best suit my needs. also a 2.0L engine should spool a slight larger turbo a little quicker than what a 1.6-1.8L would.

some of the research i have done has pointed me to a few choices:
1. a t3/to4e 57 trim w/.63 a/r (good or bad?)
2. a 60-1 .48 or.63 a/r??
3. a SC34?? (too small?)

one of my friends pointed out that maybe i should look into a Garret GT30 with the dual ball bearings that spools up pretty fast. that turbo looks and sounds nice but the price is out of my range.

any suggestions on to which one i should choose for a reasonable price. that will net me the most power without the lag time. maybe something with a ceramic ball bearing upgrade to help reduce the lag time and increase turbo efficiency?

thanks in advance for your help guys.

hey guys........im stuck between 2 turbo's. no specific trim levels but brands.

Garret vs. Precision.

would the Precision turbo of the same specs and trim of the Garret turbo be worth the extra cash?

the garret can be had for around 550-600 and the precision is over 700.....

should i go for the more expensive turbo.....or settle for the cheaper one which may make a little less power but still be a very good choice?

Precision is very good turbo you get what you pay for.. But garret on the other hand is very good too. Its up to you if you got the money to spend. I would go with garret.

TwoPointZero: so......if it were up to you would you choose a garret over precision?

you know that the precision can make more power than the garret with the same specs but it cost more........

im leaning toward garret for the price and since garret has been arround forever i dont doubt their reliability one bit......

I would go with the precision turbo since it has the newer wheel, and really the precision turbo is a garret turbo with the custom precision exhaust housing so you would get the same reliabilty from the precision as you would the garret.

B-trim is a 20+ year old design. E-trim is and updated design boasting aerodynamic improvements and higher efficency.
