Default EK-wiring cd/mp3/dvd/radio ....little problem

I have it working , I just don't understand something about it.
=when you get the adapter to plug into the oem plug it has loose wires with different colors. You connect them to the ones on the back of the unit or that plug.

for some reason i have to connect the yellow wires(not just one, but both wires coming from the car and from the unit to the car) to the red powers wired to get it to work. i have all of the speakers working, i can turn the unit off...but i dont like how it will stay on if i dont and i turn the car off. its like it voided the remote wire.
any ideas?

Sounds like your switched lead is blown on the radio harness. Check your fuses, and if they're all okay, just run a new switched 12v lead (fused) to the red wire on the deck harness.

You can tap switched 12v at the fusebox, or ignition harness.

What is a lead? And when you say radio harness....means im gonna have to take my panels off again and look for it or do you mean its in the fues box?

to the other guy, i said its an ek , so its a 96-00 civic ex
what kinda of HU as in the name or what it is. its a cd/dvd/mp3/radio no I didnt cut the oem radio harness. i have all 3, went to the audio store and grabbed the hook-up that goes to the larger plug thats white i believe (other two are green) and hooked it up...then connected the wired to the hookup that came with the radio. for some reason the harness i got at the audio store had a orange wire that the radio harness didn't...i just put a plastic twist thing on and left it.

Some HU [Clairon] have two yellow wires, a thin one ,[ memory ] wire to adpt. harnss and a thicker one,[ internal amp] wire to batt.

As for the HU staying on when ign. is off , you have the red,[ switched ] of HU wired to a 12v constant . 94
