Aem EMS for 4th gen H22a1
Hey do any of you have the aem ems or any stand alone engine managenment for you ludes? Just curious, i really wanna know if its worth the k to 2grand they can end up costing. I also think that, that would solve my turbo problem on my lude. Also is anyone selling their ems or know where there is a good place to buy?
its a great system with a competent tuner. But in the hands of a dipshit, they can be your worst nightmare. And please don't pay 2k for a new ems unit, i can get you a much better deal on a new one. email me or pm me if you need one.
oh yeah, and it really depends on what your goals for the motor is, I mean if your going to be a bolt on monster, then its probably not worth it, but if your goin crazy all motor, or doing a nice turbo or nitrous setup, then i'd say invest in it.

i am currently using an AEM EMS on my 5th gen turbo prelude, and i like it, but it's got it's kinks. granted it may have been the tuner.........which was st00pid, a very good and well known tuner. but he told me that had i used a Hondata that he guaranteed he would have gotten everything perfect. he is more experienced with hondata than AEM though.
from an experienced AEM user, i say- use a Hondata. they are cheaper and easier to use. and they perform the task just as well.

it's really up to what your tuner likes, best idea is to go and talk to him, because in the wrong hands, anything even a VAFC can be deadly to your motor,
having tuned with both, IMO EMS is much easier, from a tuning stand point. But for the end user, it really makes no differenece what ur car is tuned on.

I ran hondata in the past but now I run AEM EMS. I wanted the other options that hondata did not have which is why I upgraded to AEM.
I datalog my car alot and make changes quite frequently which is another reason I love my AEM. Hooking my laptop up to the EMS takes roughly 5 seconds to plug into the USB port. Uploading a calibration takes roughly 10 seconds then you disconnect, pull your USB plug and you are done. However, hondata I have to rip up my floor carpet, unscrewing the ECU cover, removing the previous chip, plugging the romulator into the ECU, plugging the romulator and hondata to the serial->USB connections then to the laptop. Then once a value is editied I have to hook up my pocket programmer, reburn a chip, then unhook everything, and re-install the chip, ecu cover, and carpeting.
But as far as peak whp results you'll get basically the same with hondata vs AEM. I believe mase tuned a car and got maybe 2whp more out of AEM. The AEM has more features which make it superior to hondata in my opinion. I do love hondata though due to its simplicity and great results time and time again. On a side-note, I carry both hondata and AEM EMS's in stock.

im glad to see you like your AEM over the Hondata. that gives me second thoughts on switching once my motor is built. i've just been told that Hondata is easier to use, but i guess you're right, it's all up to the tuner.
