Dear warranty problem question!!!
So I use Carbotech pads and I have Comptech (Goodridge) S.S. brake lines and the dealer wants to charge me because a caliper bolt is frozen instead of covering it under warranty. My ITR is a 2000 with 33k miles, still under manufacture warranty. I even spoke with the mechanic at Acura and he has never seen problems with the calipers. The dealer wants to charge me over $200 to replace the top caliper bolt, sleeve and rubber boot. The service guy is going to talk to the service manager to decide if they are going to cover it under warranty. If the manager decides not to cover it because of the listed mods what is the origination to file a complaint for denial of warranty work? I'm waiting for the return phone call so your immediate response would be great. Thanks.

Good god.
It's almost not even worth the hassel. Buy it yourself and install in 5 minutes.
But when they call, and deny your claim, they with most likely bullshit you with some BS and say the calipers were designed to work with the OEM pads. Ask him if he's kidding. While I think it's bunk, they really do have enough "basis" to deny you.
Seriously, it's a damn bolt.

Get a Helms manual. The brakes on all Hondas are very easy, even for a novice. Wrench your own - it's cheaper and it improves your automotive ownership experience...
In this case, the warranty coverage would be unlikely, since a "modified" part is clipped to the "defective" part in two places. That's how it works, sorry. If you had a "modified" aftermarket clutch, the dealer would be well within their rights to not cover your flywheel, for instance.

It is at Ed Morse Acura Pompano. I know not to take it to Rick Case. The thing is if I do the work myself, with help, then I wonder if it will become a bigger warranty problem down the road if somethng else happens. So, are you offering to help? I would not mind to give it a try. I'm going to find out tomorrow if the district service manager gives it the ok. The part needs to be ordered and he'll be there tomorrow anyways. If not, maybe this weekend I can give it a shot. Thanks.
