low budget turbo setup. Buy a used complete kit from someone, and use 7 lbs of boost, no more on stock sleeves for D series.
this is your best bang for the buck, will net you the lowest times at the track with your budget.
Swapping a motor will NOT give you as much power as the turbo setup would. You'll kick yourself if you swap motors, trust me, keep the D.
after that work on suspension and traction and driving skills.

And like he mentioned, don't be afraid to try the Search function... try typing in d15 under archived content and see what H-T members did with it... Godd Luck with H-T, because I'm just learning as well..

I did do a search, but often i couldn't find the budget. i appologise to the elder board posters that have probably seen this topic before- many times. the mods im considering right now are a mini-me head swap and ex transmission. i know the compression will jump with the mini-me will i have to lower it to run say.. .5 bar boost? since there is no turbo kit (that i have found) for the d15, what all will have to be upgraded to handle boost? electronics, ignition, etc?
what d series parts are interchangeable? where can i find engine codes and related stats and information: timing, compression, bore-stroke, cont...

hmm youve got a 3-5 k budget? and you guys are talking about keeping the d series motor? the 102 hp motor? 1500 bucks will get you a complete LS swap. everything you need. then you search H-T for a use b series turbo kit... 1500-2000 for something good. youre at 3500 right there. youve got 1500 left for decent wheel/tire combo and minor suspension upgrades.
dude at the track has a 95 coupe where i live... DX, with a greddy kit on it. his best pass has be a 14.30. but hes consistent @ 14.60's. ive gotta 92 hatch, with a 96 LS swap in it. im consistent @ 14.60's as well... i spent 1400 for my swap, and he spent 3000 for his kit, installed, and tuned.

i disagree.....
already have wheels, tires, full suspension, and intake. okay, i'm somewhat new to honda. im a nissan guy trying to help mod a friends car. eventually he's going to take this over but anyway... LS is the base model integra? is that the b17? a friend of mine who runs a shop out here advised me against the b17 when i was scouring the boneyard for a vtec engine. anywho, thanks much for the information. keep it coming!

i started looking for an ls engine, and found a b16a at jspec auto sports for pretty cheap $975 for a complete long block, according to various swap matrices this is a bolt in replacement, good idea? anyone bought from them, what about nippon motors, any suggestions? also with the ls would i want to do a frankenstein or just boost the non-vtec?
boosting the non VTEC is a great idea... with a compression ratio of 9.2:1 is a great 300 WHP platform. and it can be done rather inexpensively. you can add a VTEC head to it only to create more airflow in the head.
well i figure if i can bolt a b16 vtec head to a b18 non-vtec block and thus widen the usable powerband how can i go wrong? i want to keep this car as streetable as possible. also, anyone have any rear ends with disc brakes that will fit a '92 lx sedan?
thatll work. ive heard stories about the LS/VTEC not being so reliable... have a witnessed it, no. there are a few running around here.

I would just go LS turbo, for now (just hope that your friend isn't throttle happy). He could get like 220-250whp out of it safely I would say with a turbo. Then if he wants to go faster I would either pull out the motor and totaly rebuild it and slap a vtec head on it, or just trow on some arp rod bolts, and head studs and slap a vtec head on it. But the thing is to take full advantage of a vtec head you need to rev the motor higher (I'm not saying that you will gain no power down low neither). This will cause motor to work alot harder since it got a pretty long stroke compared to vtec b series.
