Default Lets discuss which is more effective...cold air intake vs cold air extension

i recently made this ghetto intake https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=100109

using the stock airbox assembly and I got into a dicussion with my friend about the effectiveness of this vs the aem cai.

I dont know where, but i remember reading something about the velocity of the air going into the t/b and into the head being important. Now, with the aem, the filter is in the fenderwell, so after the filter's intial resistance to air, its an unobstructed passage to the t/b. the downfall is more friction.

now with the stock airbox with a cold air extension, air is coming in, then slowing down at the filter, then speeding up again. so this would cause slower velocities, but less friction (after the filter anyway).

so what do you think is more effective? i would think that the cai would be most effective. but then again, it would vary for different applications as well i guess.

doh, i just realized i should have searched before i posted this, but, as i dont want to delete what i just wrote and hopefully, this wouldn't have been discussed before. -flame suit on-
