Default transmissions

i was wondering what tranny to use in a G2 teg. B18B/Turbo. anyway, i was originally thinkin about using the B18A tranny, because it is a cable setup, and the gears are pretty good. the more i think about it tho, i think i like the gear setup of B16 better. so what i was thinkin about was a 88-91 (SiR I) Y1 tranny, with an LS final drive (5th gear for highway cruising). these are my questions:

1.) i would use the stock shift linkage correct?
2.) are the gear ratios in a SiR I the same as SiR II
3.) how are they different?
4.) does this seem like the most practical setup for you guys, too? Discuss.

if you are going LS turbo you should stick with the LS transmission... The shift linkage will hook up no problem.....the y1 or the Sir I has shorter gears. any others about exact specs?

shut up!!! jebus, i'm so sick of hearing people say that...such horrible misinformation....

to answer your questions knowledgefully;
1. stock linkage will work
2. i'm pretty sure the SiR II has the shorter gears because they're the same as the type R (y21), just no lsd
3. specnically speaking
4. yes, that does seem practical to have a short-geared tranny with an LS 5th for highway cruising

A lot of cable B16 tranny's come with LSD's. They're expensive but well worth it. The other option would be to get ahold of a Quaife.
