new tires or rims?
ok here's the deal..i have a 95 gsr and a while back i had sum ******** at goodyear mount me sum oversized 190/60/15's yet i didn't realize this until i had drove over their exchange/refund mileage. since i've lowered my car and low on finances there's been sum major scrapeage to the inner wheelwell and the tires just straight up look 4X4 ooogly. bumps and dips scrape more. i dont have much patience and really want new tires to replace these...should i get sum now and save the sweat or wait it out for another 2 months and get something by rota maybe? i kno its my decisoin but i would just like to kno wat u guyz would do.
I have 195/60/15's on my 97 GSR wheel's right now, are those the wrong size?
They came on the car when I bought it from the previous owner.
If I were you, I would buy a set of Falken Azenis right now, if you live somewhere without harsh winters, and get a size like 205/50/15, and then when you have more money to get new wheel's like Rota's, you can put those same tires on the new wheels.
Don't drive Falken Azenis if you get any snow in the winter months, just wait out the weather, and buy something you want in the spring.

yep..stock gsr spec is 195/55/15. so urs are just a bit off as well. just a lil wider and just as tall as mine. yea i was looking at the falken azeni's those look really nice and i've heard good things about them. ill prob pik me up a set after the winter is out. thnx for the input
i just got the pirelli P7000, and these tires made my car feel totally diffrent. i love them, even though i havent tried anyother tires on my gsr other than the stocks im pretty sure ill be getting these again. they grip like crazy. and their not that expencive i got the 195/55/15's for 75 a piece
I just got a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE730s (size 205/50-15 on stock '99 LS wheels) installed a few weeks ago, and I can't say enough good things about them.

As for size, yes, the 195/60-15s are a little "taller" than stock. This actually has a negative effect on acceleration, similar to making the gears longer. If you go with a 205/15-15, you get the benefit of more contact patch as well as slightly better acceleration.

shell out some loot now for bridgestone S-03 at tirerack.com on sale in the 195/50r15 size ( I think still are on sale)
that would fit your oem wheel, and be a low profile too.

If you can wait til after the winter then I would pick up some Falken Azenis. That's what I plan on doing.

Don't expect them to last much over 15,000 miles. They may grip like crazy, but they don't wear like 400 treadware compounds (example: the stock tires).

15,000 thats it?!? they get a 200 treadwear rating? and that equals out to 15k miles??!
The factory tires are designed to last a long time, and that is partially why they handle so badly. Another note of interest, I've heard that Azenis are less than stellar rain tires. If you plan on using them in the rain, it is possible, but just be careful.
yea well im talking about using these tires down to the baldness....i first got my car w/blizzaks in the winter and i used them down till the edges were splitting w/threads coming out...i kno this is bad but i had no money at the time.
