Default Question regarding Weight of Tubular Manifold.

I'm curious as to the weight of an average tubular manifold. Like a Bull/ram horn style manifold?

I'm also wondering what the max weight should be of the manifold and turbo hanging from the exhauts manifold studs? Is there some physics I should know about with this?

I have a Lovefab. Not sure of the exact weight, but if I had to guess, I'd say somewhere around 15 lbs.

thanks man. I'm guessing my manifold is gonna weigh around 18 pounds. is that acceptable? I'm assuming the turbo/etc hanging from it will be around 25. Just curious as to when the manifold studs start breaking.

I'm sure the studs will be plenty strong enough to support the weight. If you are worried about it, take out the studs and buy some grade 8 allen head bolts to replace them.

Yeah my custom tubular manifold, turbo, and downpipe weigh a grip. I have been running with no exhaust for a while too and the only thing holding it up are the manifold studs.

nice. Thanks man. I'm going to go ahead with the construction of an equal length.

BBS: Do you have a picture of your manifold? I'm going for basically a Full Race design without the quality:D I'm planning on feeding a camera into the center of each runner to examine the inside of the welds. Hoping no burrs or anything to **** up the airflow.

Zero pounds. Tubulars are not meant to support the turbo or wastegate's weight, even the ill-designed schedule 40 heat sinks.

translation; BRACE IT.

Even the stock cast manifolds have at least 2 braces on them or the A pipe. Hell even the intake manifold is heavily braced. Has honda discovered something we could learn from?!?

I've seen stock IMs break when the brace wasn't reinstalled. I've run my IM unbraced with no problems, but it does happen.
