my type r seems to be burning oil what could be wrong.
lol. It's a Type R with 80K...that's what they do, burn oil
But seriously, it's fairly common amongst higher mileage R's that they start using oil. It usually starts with around 1qt/3K and goes up from there. I'm at around 2-2.5 qts per oil change I think and it hasn't gotten any worse in the last year.
Usually bad oil rings as indicated below, but compression usually checks out ok 210+.

As others have said, you're probably going to have to start expecting that, and it'll build to the point that you are rebuilding the motor.
How much oil are you using?
Even a new B18C5 is going to use oil, you know.
And are you really using it, or are you seeing black smoke and assuming it's oil burning?

Well I burn more oil then I care to say... But my compression test not that long ago yeilded between 230 and 235 for all 4.
Oh and I only have 53,000 miles.

In that case, you are just slow.

Mine burns around 18 L per oil change with new head??? I dropped it of at acura today to fix problem. I got a new head last month on warranty, so I hope they just drop in new motor. I only have 1400 k's left on warranty so they better fix it fast.

It's prolly Mobil 1 specific problem. I've using Castrol full synthetic since the beginning and it's not burning much oil during daily driving (only 1qt per 7000 miles)

I find alot of people go so many ways on this subject. Here is another POV.
People forget about something on rings. A very well known engine builder on
here reccomends a certain way to position the ring gaps on the piston. This
keeps the gases from escaping and tend to make them last longer as well,
prolonging the wear process leading to blow by.
87.2mm stroke + 8500rpm... yea. If you want to eliminate this problem, just running a different oil wont really matter. alot of it has to do with assy of your
motor and ring location. considering this is done by hand, it can vary.
my motor is a C5 and has 50K on it. Its burnt a quart on WOT every 1500 miles
and I have always run 10-40full syn in it. Thats me. You might run another oil.
not every motor is toleranced and specd the same...
