Default speed govenor.. internal/external

ive got a 99 civic CDN si/ US EX, and i just swapped a b16a2 jspec into its with a p30 dohc vtec ecu. the car still cuts out at 190km/hr as did my old d16y8 with a sohc vtec ecu. is this due to an external relay from the model of the car? or is it the ecu?

i know a stock SiR/US Si will not cut out, so why would mine? any help would be appreciated.

ECU cuts it off. get it chipped and take out the limiter.

Almost all canadian cars have a speed limiter as its governed by law to have one. The ECU controls it and you can just get the ECU chipped which will remove it though your on OBD-2 so Im not too sure how that'd work.

OBD-1 would be much simpler..

Why do you need to go faster than 190km/h anyways?

get a OBD2-OBD1 Jumper and a OBD1 chipped P28 or whatever...it'll run better and get rid of that daman speed limiter

i have the obd2 wireharness converted to the obd1 ecu. i figured it wouldnt cut out so i thought it might be external.

is it better to have it chipped? or just put the money into a hondata computer?

Why the hell wouldn't he want to go faster than 118mph? Why dump thousands of dollars into your car to make it faster than not want to go fast. that doesn't make sense, really.

That just seems like a really bizarre *** question to ask someone on a forum dedicated to _tuning hondas_.

well now that i put 4 grand into my engine, it really pisses me off to get to 190 and a 4 door civic is sitting beside me cause we both cut out.

although i can get to 190 twice as fast :D

anyways, off topic, i guess i will have to get it chipped, is it worth buying anything off of ebay? or should i have a professional reprogram it?

When most of us dump thousands into our cars it's to improve the acceleration, not the top speed. Ever see what happens when a civic is going 120 MPH, and the driver loses control and hits something? It's not pretty. Unless your racing professionally on a track there is no reason to go over 120 MPH.

I guess because he mainly daily drives the car and its not a completely gutted purely race dedicated car... so once again the question remains why he would need to go over 120 miles per hour in the first place?

im just curious as to how fast the car will go. its not like i do it once a day/week/month, id just like to know what i can get it up to and thats it.

i made it cut out at 190k twice since i put the b16 in, no big deal to me, accelerating is more fun :D

You can go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay faster than you would ever need to. You can tell ppl that too. Now get off the damn go fast kick because you're in a tincan on the road compared to the solid concrete median on most high speed freeway. If you do happen to find a way around it and go through with it, darwin may aswell be sitting in the passenger seat with the controls to a nuclear explosive that he happily installed under your passenger seat (DIY soon to come!).
