Default Axxis Ultimate Brake Pads

I recently installed a set of axxis ultimates and cannot seem to get the noise to stop(squealing). I had the rotors resurfaced, I bedded in the pads properly and yesterday I applied Permatex brake quiet onto the metal backs of the brake pads- still have an extreemely loud squealing.

Did a search haven't found anything that I haven't already tried. Anyone have any additional suggestions? Thanks.

if greasing the calipers doesn't work meaning the piston the you just got to live with it, unless you get new calipers

Strip them down again clean and re-install sometimes just disturbing them can get rid of annoying squeals, do them real good and it will probably get rid of noise. Failing that pads sometimes have hard spots by fault in the process of manufacture, and the noise will either wear out in this case, or if it persists ask the dealer to swap your pads if they are new they have a guarantee against defects.

Do you have pad shims installed?

well, they are supposed to squeak to some extent. they're not oem type street pads. Mine squeaked a lot on slow stops but after I tracked them it quieted down a lot. May want to going on several really hard braking runs to grind them down some and see if that helps.

Thanks for all the info guys. As for what axxis pads they are; they are the axxis ultimates- if there are different types of ultimates I was not aware. I guess I will try stripping down front and rear this weekend and clean and re-permatex.

I do not have shims on the pads and Andrew Lin from carbo-tech advised that the ultimates have an integrated shim on the back of the pads. I am still looking for somewhere to purchase just the shims so I can try that route as well.

I will keep you guys updated, and let you know if anything works out. Thanks again.

Also, they need to come to full temp to seat correctly and for proper material transfer from the pad to the rotor or you may have uneven braking problems.

there was a thread eaither in the ITR or Road Racing forum that discussed the proper way to break in pads.

That's the same thing Andy lin suggested down at carbo-tech and gave me a few steps to make sure the pads had- in fact- been properly bedded in.

4-6 moderate 45-15mph stops
Drive for 10-15 min without using the brakes
4-6 hard 50-10mph stops
Let car sit over night without parking brake on

Did this last night and the pads have quieted down on hard braking, but they still squeal like dying pigs on crack on moderate to light stops.

Thanks for the link on the shims britishlude.

No problem.

Well, the permatex is drying on the rears right now. I'll let you guys know how it all comes out. I went ahead and ordered the shims from majestic honda (great link btw) in case the permatex doesn't work.

Just wanted to keep you guys up-dated. The permatex is all on- front and rears 3 coats- and it did nothing.
My guess is that without the shims there is not enough surface area contacting the backs of the pad and the permatex to dampen the harmonic disturbances caused by the variances in the rotor.
Without the shims the only thing you have contacting the backs of the pads is the circumfrence of the caliper piston on the inside and the 2 one inch plates on outsides the of the caliper.
When I get the shims I'll give it another shot and let you guys know what happens.
