Loosing coolant......
My car is loosing coolant lately and I can't find out where. The funny thing is that I'm only losing coolant from the resvior tank (*fill up every 3 days or so*), everytime I pop open the radiator cap, the dam thing is FULL. There's no leak....I had a shop pressure check my cooling system and they found no leaks...
. At first I thought it might had been a blown head gasket but the car drives fine. (it's a 94gsr w/130k). I checked for oil in the coolant but nothing.
They told me it can be different things like a thermostat that is always open, a bad radiator cap, waterpump or even a headgasket......I'm like ok.....so which one is it......
I notice this only happened after I replaced the radiator (aftermarket OEM style), thermostat and radiator cap.... but I got the whole system pressure check and I was even there while they did it and didn't see a leak.... Car also DOES NOT overheat.
HELP.

car also does not overheat if you drive it for long enough it will overheat if your losign coolant. my cousins had a problem somewhat like this he changed everything radiator thermostat waterpump coolant everything. im guessisg its most likely water pump or head gasket. you cna have the head gakset got and it could be very minor no mixing of the coolant and oil but it burns coolant thats wut happened to my cousin civic i still have his headgasket and u can see where it started to leak at.
smell your exhaust it works. if u dont know how regular exhaust smoke is suppose to smell like smell another cars exhaust.
make sure its not leaking anywhere else like the radiator cap or any of that isolate the problem to being the waterpump or headgasket i hope its not headgasket good luck.
most likely its cap or the line going to the overflow is clogged soemhow or something because its a weird problem as the radiator is still full.

well.....ur guess about blown headgasket or not is not accurate...how about doing some compression test off ur cylinder head...
1. let ur car run for 15mins .....then look for sympton....this might help...
2. i dont think thermostat is the cause, even if it open all the time...and most likely thermostat is always open all the time while u're driving....I dont know much about rad cap, but they are usually dealing with pressure. Pressure low or high is a minor cause of coolant lost.
3. compression tests, do this before u wanna replace anything
4. look for white smoke out of ur exhaust...darker black smoke cause oil burn, white is usually from coolant
good luck man
