ww door caps
im supposed to be getting my ww. rs side skirts and door caps for my hatch, im just wondering how the door caps are put on? does it screw on anywhere? becuase i want to test fit it then get it painted, thanks
It depends on how much work you want to do. They are made to just be stuck on with the provided tape. That will usually work without any problems, as long as you do it right. If you are looking for a very permanent job. I would stick them on with the tape, then rivet them to the doors. If you rivet them, you will need to countersink the rivets just enough to make them flush. Then you need to get some filler, and fill in the holes. Then sand smooth and paint. But like I said, I know a few people who just used the tape, and have had no problems. But then again, I know someone who had theirs fly off at 75mph down the freeway.
when installing the sideskirts, where do you drill the holes for the screws? im guessing in the fender well you drill where the mud flaps used to be, but what about the bottom? there is no holes? thanks
Well, the side skirts have a flap of urathane about 6" long, and 4" wide. You put two rivets into that, on the bottom of the floor boards. Just make sure you put a small dab of silicone sealant in the holes, so you dont get any kind of water up in there.

my drivers door was in some collision damage before a bought it, and the door cap wouldnt fit on the door flush........we screwed and covered and painted, and now the cap is stressed so the screws are pushing the paint out a little bit, just brealy. Make absolutely sure your car has never been in a wreck before you install yoru kit!!
Also, not only is my door/fender bent from the wreck, but the chassis seems to be bent too, I cant get it aligned.....

you can use 3M panel bond for plastics....works great that **** will not come off for the life of it....or you could countersinc screws like i did and works just as well but if i did it again i would use 3M
You can also check out http://www.WingsWest.com They have instructions on how to install the kit.
