Hey guys-- I did a search but came up w/ not much of what I'm looking for. If you guys have any creative/crazy airbox or filter setups for your turbo, i'd like to see em. I recently read the turbo magazine and had a supra w/ a crazy airbox-- just seeing if there is anything to be done for our cars! I tried to find the pics of that Black Supra-- but couldn't find any. Thanks guys!

 

Bump, yes i would like to see some also. Im always interested in creating a short ram air box for my car, something to resemble a Comptech Ice Box, But using it with a turbo apps..=P

 

Take air front the front is the best! On my n/a ITR i took away one of the lamps.
At higher speeds it was like Turbo and the air filter on the TB makes a really nice noice

Here's the supra box i was talking about:

 

Shitty picture, but it's in the corner where the factory airbox would be. I fabbed up a block off panel that forms to the bottom of the hood when shut. A nice piping setup routes the fresh air down to the turbo.

 

with a intercooler, i wouldnt think it would be as benificial

 

why show turbo'd cars imo. just get a good heatshield a box or a sheild and get a pipe that goes underneath the car to a good place. even the part by the headlight isnt a good idea all tho hardcore drag racer do it im hearing to the left or right of the radiator is better but im not sure.... just an opinion for someone i heard long ago

but i mean real time racing uses the nsx box and the headlight and most drag racer use the thing on the top so it couldnt be that bad. but it has to do with the pressure of air and also aerodynamics. but im not sure still just an opinion.

 

Bump ~ Anyone else done anything? To get cold air as an "ice box" resemblance?

 

This is a cold air setup I made, I bought 1 - 3" mandrel aluminum 'U' bend that I cut in half to make pieces 'A' and 'B', and 1- 3" mandrel aluminum 'L' bend that I cut to make piece 'C', and then some silicone couplings to put it all together. I used the biggest 3" inlet K&N filter I could find.
The filter assembly fits nicely in the passenger side inner fender, I had to modify the bottom splash guard a little bit to make room for the massive piping. I only polished the upper L bend that goes to the turbo, since you don't see the other stuff anyways. The lower splash guard is held on with a massive zip tie that gives the whole assembly some integrity and keeps it from moving around. This is a true cold air intake, since the filter is completely segregated from the engine compartment.
