Noise comming through speakers, sounds like RPM's, wtf?????
ok guys, maybe you can help me out. I got this weird RPM sound coming through my speakers. It follows the pitch of my engine exactly. When my engine revs higher, the sound gets higher, it mimics the tune of the engine 100%. I don't know how to explain it exactly, but it's kind of like a distinct electronic sounding "buzz".
I didn't do anything to alter my stereo system recently. I thought maybe it would go away but it hasn't, so I took out my cd player, checked all the connections, and put it back in, and the sound is still there.
In case it helps, the car is a 98 Civic DX. I have a Pioneer CD head unit, and 6 disc changer. Speakers: Infinity 6.5's, 6x9's, and tweeters, all run by an mtx amp. No subs.
Has this ever happened to anybody before? Any idea of wtf is going on, and how to fix it?
TIA

You have a ground loop issue. Check your grounds on everything. Make sure the amplifier has a solid ground.
Make sure that your ground wire for your amp is not touching the paint on the chasis. That will give you a bad ground.
could be a couple of very frustrating things it's hard to diagnose... could be rca's ... could be in the radio ( I've seen Pioneer's do it before) .... could be in the amp ( something I've also seen MTX do) and could be in a speaker...
your local hit me up I'll give ya a hand...

okay, I've got a little time to type...
here's how I would troubleshoot this one,
first unplug the rca's from the amp, and listen. if the noise is gone then you know it's not the amp/speakers and the noise is being generated before the amp. if the noise is still there unhook one speaker at a time, having only that one speaker disconnected. that will eliminate one speaker at a time from making the noise, remembering that it could be the wiring leading to the speaker not the speaker itself.
if unplugging the rca's got rid of the noise, I would then unplug them from the head unit, listen.... noise gone? then run a spare set of rca's through the car (over the seats nothing permanent) this will eliminate the rca's and if they are causing the noise.
if it's still there borrow someone's radio and give it a shot... one of these should clear ya up...
again get ahold of me, if you have any questions....

Thanks for the input foz
. I'll be checking every thing out this weekend, if it doesn't go away, I'll let you know. I hope it's not the cd player, because I think the warranty just expired
