being as that i've always done it myself, i really wouldn't know... but my guess is around 150 or so?

it's really not hard to do yourself... even the crappy haynes manuals can help you. just rent the spring compressor from autozone or something (complete refund when you turn it back in) and save the money.

Should be an easy DIY weekend project. Try not to pay, unless you are not mechanically inclined, or uncertain of the final result because of safety issues. It's a great feeling after you finish working on your car, very rewarding.

a good question would be - how many hours would it take a 'professional' mechanic to do the job? and you multiple the number of hours by the shop labor hour rate. A honda dealer will tell you how many hours it would take them from the book and you can compare it with other shops. Or anyone here could give you a guess on how many hours it would take them to do the work? Then you add part and labor costs to get a feel of how much it should cost. I am not sure if you would want to replace strut and coil spring? It takes a shock insert that one would replace and insert goes inside the exisiting strut and you can reuse the coil (and strut) unless they are damaged from an accident or hitting a bad pothole? A new shock insert would cost about $40 to $70 depending on quality and brand, I would think. The usual shop cost, I have no clue as I do my own work. Hope it helps.

most mechanics would consider it 45 minutes to an hour per wheel. at 50 bucks an hour (normal rate) it comes out to no more than $200. i've heard of many people getting it done for less though. (thus my guess of $150 or so...)

EDIT:
i'm assuming he's lowering his car, which is why he wants to replace the springs and struts. (as is the case with most people on this board)
