Default Popped my head gasket i think.....

Yep, got my timing fixed then take it for a test drive and I hear a pop, look in my engine bay, and see oil everywhere. I figure I popped the head gasket, due to my recent where the **** is my coolant going experience, I think it was on it's way out.

Does anyone have a link to replacing a head gasket? I know how to get the head off, but what prep should I do for the gasket, and what kind of gasket should I get (as in oem or cometic, and d16z6 or d15z1, my engine is a d16z6)?

Thanks for your help, you have all been great.

what is this your 4th thread in 2 days?
glad to hear you got your timing problem fixed...as far as the headgasket get OEM unless youre boosting you might wanna get the cometic, im pretty sure you should just rub some oil on it before you slap it on, taking the head off is easy i had to take mine off today...replacing the gasket should be pretty easy also, just line everything up, have fun

Hahaha I had to ask about the timing thing several times because **** just kept changing with it, so I let one thread die and posted another. But yea, it's been a pretty eventful weekend... .

ive been working on getting my jdm d15 in this weekend, crank pulley was a bitch when i was replacing the tbelt/water pump, than after replacing the plugs and wires i was tightening up the valve cover and snapped the last bolt so backing it out wasnt going well so i had to pull the head for a flatter more stable surface to work with, and now im held up for the rest of the week i feel your pain

Ouch that sux man. I had that happen to me twice in one night last week haha.... luckily I still had my d15z1 around to pull valve cover screws from.

I'm gonna try to get a new head gasket from the dealership tomorrow and possibly have it fixed tuesday night. Riding the bus sux.....

u should take the middle layer out, run just two, and up the compression a bit. that or mill the head a bit
