Huge problem with idle, help please!!!!
Im driving a 94 acura integra ls...totally stock. Just recently, whenever my engine is cold and I start it, the idle hunts from 1500-2000.
If the engine is warm and I start it, it will idle around 750 rpm but it will be VERY shaky...almost like its missing and barely running. Everything is fine aside from the idling issues. I do notice a big decrease in fuel mileage though.
Any ideas as to what the problem may be? The car has 128k on it.

well, those with idle problems usually check the IAC Valve that thing behind your IM manifold.
I would recommend removing it cleaning it with brake cleaner and replacing the gasket(not necessary) but yeah, try that, see what happens.

standard list of things to check: IAVC, TPS, Vaccum Leaks, Bad Gasket, and FITV. the first two can be checked w/ a voltage meter, the vaccum leaks & gaskets w/ carberator cleaner. (spraying it around the IM) and the FITV by plugging the hole just inside the throttle body @ about 8 o' clock.

so did mine.. re-read my post and search specific the specific terms to get further details. i.e. search "tps sensor" and read posts that have the voltage specs on it. then go test your tps and see if it's reading the correct voltage. if it is, then move on-to the IAVC, clean it first, check the volts and try it. nothing? try the idle screw. vaccums etc. etc.
for me it turned out to be the Fast Idle Thermo Valve, SEARCH: "fast idle thermo"
when my car was cold and i started it it would rev high for a few seconds then jump from 1500 to like 2000 or somewhere around there.
`Make sure the car is cold, then Remove the intake piping. Look in the throttle body around, just b4 the butterfly for a hole. plug it with your finger. idle go back to normal? then it's that sensor.
P.S. my ls @ 130K needed a mild tune up, bought 1 step colder NGK and new wires (old one's were rotting), changed tranny fluid, standard oil & filter change, new air filter, checked distributer (was fine) etc. and since i was under the hood i bled my brakes and tightened my pedal up a lil.
