Hiya, im new and im in desperate need of advice.

I've just fitted an AEBS intake manifold to my EK jordan. The problem i have got is when i start the car up the revs go sky high. I used new gaskets, and im pretty sure i've got all the hoses in the right places. i haven't touched the idle screw. so im just wondering if anyone has an idea of what could be wrong.

sure you have new gaskets? did you clean off the old gasket **** that usually sticks to the metal? sounds like that or you have a messes up sensor...could be a vacume too how high is sky high? try taking your battery cable off....reset the ECU.....put it back together...start it....see if it still does it.

 

I'm pretty sure i cleaned off all the gasket stuff. i've had the battery off so shouldn't that have reset the ECU. When i start it up its going to over 6000 i turn it off after then cos the engines freezing.

 

does it make a noise like a jet engine, if so u have a vac leak probably between the head and the intake manifold

 

You probably have an exhaust leak.

Did you properly torque down the intake manifold and set all hoses where they belong?


Did you break anything in the process and didn't fix it, such as a sensor or wiring harness?

its not an exhaust leak, he has a vacuum leak. no way an exhaust leak can affect idle RPM.

you did not clean off the head well enough for the new gasket to seat when you put the intake manifold on, OR you forgot to connect a large hose (brake booster). a small vacuum hose wont do this, this is a big leak to cause a rev that high.

 

Like they said its a vacuum leak make sure you atleast torque down all the bolts to requirements. Make sure you replace the intake manifold and throttle body gaskets. Also if your not sure if it has a vacuum leak. Take a bottle of Carb Cleaner and spray it around the gaskets. If it starts to choke where you sprayed it. Than thats where the leak is at.

I'm sorry, I meant vaccum leak. I'm building my own exhaust so exhaust has been on my mind all day.

Why I asked if he torqued down all bolts on the intake manifold.

 

I've put my old manifold back on and it works fine. So i'm guessing i've got an air leak somewhere like you guys say. I don't know who is familar with an AEBS IM, but there are so may holes for vacuum hoses. Does anyone have any pictures of an installed manifold on a B16. Cheers for your help
