1997 civic starting/idleing problem need help plz
So when my car actually starts it will idle around 1100 for the warm up but if i hit the gas it dies down to about 100 rpm n then a couple seconds later it dies. After that it wont start anymore. people have told me a couple different things that it could be IAC TPS or MAP. I cleaned out the IAC initially and thats what made this problem worse and there is a funny sound coming from the IAC where the electrical connects. I just checked the TPS AND MAP with a DMM(never used one before) and with the ignition on there both running between 4.5 and 4.97 volts. Any help would be appreciated. I have read a lot of the FAQs but I want to get your guys personal opinions to what you think it is. Thanks. Oh and also my engine isnt throwing any codes at all when its on. Which is why im having a lot more difficulty with this fix.
OTHER NOTES
In the last 2 weeks I have put a new battery, rotor, cap, plugs and wires on it. Also tweaked the timing and put new head gasket intake manifold gasket and exhaust manifold gasket. Oh and water temp sensor.

Is your timing exactly on? The TPS need to be clocked also. 4.5V at WOT and .5V at idle. Here is a diagram to test your IACV.

So I put a different IAC on it and it didnt help.. i cant test the tps with the car on because it wont start. I havent checked the coil yet but the wires are in correct firing order. Im going to go get a fuel pressure gauge right now and see if there is something wrong with fuel getting to the injectors and so on. My fuel pump works and my main relay is good so im just going step by step. Thanks for your guys input.

So I checked the sparks and they arnt a bright white like there suppose to be. they are yellow and blue. I checked my coil and from the + to the spring it was around 15 ohmz and from the + to the - it was between 1.1 1.2 So the coil is still good. I just got back from getting a compression test kit and a fuel pressure gauge. So im going to check that out in the morning

Wait, did this happen after the starting problem or before?
Also, who was this guy a friend or mechanic?

I think it happened as I was having the starting problems. The car was idling weird since the minute I had got it back from him and an hr after i got it back from him I had to take it back so he could redo the head bolts and mess with it because the lifters were making tons of noise. It sounded like a tractor. So after that it still had a rpm problem and i drove it home(barely) and it would start in my garage but only for a few seconds then it would die out. And then after that it wouldnt start at all. So my guess is it slowly ate away the keyway and as it was idling in my garage and as I tried to rev it up it just completely crapped out.
and it was my friends dad. Hes been working on cars forever. He has just never done a honda.
