bad axel or tranny?

Default bad axel or tranny?

i have a oil leak by the passenger side axel. i jack up the car to find that the part where the axel goes into the tranny is loose!! it moves up and down like its not in fully but it is!?!?! it it my tranny, axel seal or the tranny??

the part that the axel goes into the tranny? its probaly just a seal nothing can be loose at that spot you may be able to wiggle the case a little like within a 1/16 of an inch. if the metal case on the axel is not flush on the tranny then i would say that your differential busted

my diff? dham.... but keep in mind the car does drive fine, no noises

mine done the same until a piece of metal got jammed up and then snapped of the outer edge of the case but that was where the jack shaft was

Replace the seal, it's like $5, and examine the axel while it is out. Their should be a locking "c" clip on the end of it to hold it snug.
