Stroker Kit ?'s
Im about to go boost and im looking for forged internals and i ran across a stroker kit. I was looking at it and they are pretty expensive. I was wondering is there a huge advantage for a stroker kit, or would i be better just getting forged internals and put that money some where else? Any advise would be helpful. Thanks

Well in one word... Torque!
Basicly a stroker kit increases the stroke of the pistons making them longer which increases the engines mechanical advantage at the crank in other words Torque. A stroker kit also increases the engines displacement and when all you have is 1.8 thats a definate plus. also you should know that when stroking out an engine it usualy causes it to make peak power at a lower or slightly lower RPM, and raises the power output throught the whole powerband. I would love to get a stroker kit for my Gs-r but like you said, there expensive, epecialy when you consider how much power you gain for the $buck$ compared to a turbo, unless $$ ain't a problem for you then don't waste your time and money on a stroker kit, just boost it!
A stroker kit is ideal for an all motor setup. if you got the green that is!! but don't get me wrong a stroker kit with a turbo aswell! Damn! you got some serious potential there!

how so? boring out the block increases displacement. stroking a block also increases displacement. plus if you wanna make big power, you're gonna wanna sleeve the block and you gotta bore it for the sleeving anyway...so why waste money on a stroker kit??? and is this a street car? if it is, better think of reliability.

While they both increase displacement, boring out the block would be more favorable because the bore/stroke ratio would get closer to square allowing higher revs. The B18's already start off with a larger stroke than bore, so boring would bring it closer to square as opposed to stroking it out and getting an even "worse" ratio. The longer the stroke compared to the bore, the lower you can safely rev your engine because it puts more force on the cylinder walls. Now high revs arent really necessary if your making power lower, but its just something to think about. I would think that there is a reason all(if not all, almost all) F1 cars have a 1:1 bore:stroke ratios.

anyway, i was gonna grab a stroker kit as well, but for reliability, it's easier for me to have our local tuner shop set me up with a high compression all-motor set-up. also it's a bit cheaper because unless you plan to DIY, a stroker kit installed isn't cheap. i can probly get all the head work i need done (porting, valve train upgrade) for the price of just the stroker kit.

it really is a simple equation, to find the displacement, you just take your stroke and bore specs and plug them into the equation to volume of a cylinder and from there it is a cake walk.
