Default H22 install: Tips on how to get the bolt back into the rear engine mount??

I am in the final stages of having my H22 installed into my car. I can't seem to get the long bolt to make its way into the threaded side of the metal mount bracket.

Any ideas/tips??

Install driver's side first, then passenger then rear. Shouldnt be that much problems.

I partially dropped my engine in the bay and then put the rear mount on loose and then lowered it the rest of the way and then put the other 3 bolts in then torqued to spec.

I don't know how far you are but if you can take a step back it might help... Just leave all of the mounts loose until all of them are on.

good luck on the swap.

i put my engine in from the bottom (changing clutch) and already had the drivers side, then did the tranny mount. the engine will be at the right height then and tilt back and forth with some pushing and pulling.

just keep moving it back and forth until it pops in, then use an air wrench.

Good luck bro

Cool. Thanks for the help. I will try all of these recommendations tonight.

I hope this motor fires up. The motor has sat for over two years. I am crossing my fingers on this one.

When I did it, I supported the engine from underneith, threaded the bolts into the block a few turns, then got the big bolt through the mount threaded. The loose nuts in the block allow the bracket to have some movement so you can get it lined up properly. After it gets started, torque down the bolts on the block, then teh mount

Whe I had to deal with that I had a garage jack uder the gearbox and I pumpd the jack with my foot while I was leaing in the engine bay watching and tapping the bolt in. I found this way pretty easy.

Yeah, that bolt's a bitch. I STILL haven't gotten mine back in right. On my bud' s F22B swap we did a few weeks ago, we got it in by unbolting some of the bolts from the actual bracket/mount on the block, leaving the front mount unbolted, then moved the motor some till the big bolt would go in then bolting back up the bolts that go into the block.

Not the best way, but it worked.

Good luck man!

Thanks for all the replies. This is the one that worked. I grinded down the tip of the bolt to make it sharper. Then I loosened the rear engine bracket. Then I used the air ratchet to put continuous pressure and rotation on it. It went right in.

I am in the final stages now. I am almost done connecting all of the wire connectors. I still have to install the distributor, radiator, fans, and a few other things, though.

I hope to try to fire it up tonight.

try to unbolt everything while using a jack that can hold the motor then carefully push the motor back or whatever position it need to be in order for it to bolt on then when u get that bolt in bolt up all the other ones
